Pecos County Elections Provides Update on Voter Registration Backlog

Over the past 24 hours, Texas county voter registrars statewide have received an influx of new voter registrations and updates to voter registration records submitted through the Texas Department of Public Safety. Some of these submissions date back to October 2025 but were not transmitted to Texas county voter registrars until September 23, 2026.
In Pecos County, approximately 126 records were received for processing because of a technical issue at the state level that caused a significant backlog.
Pecos County election officials are diligently working around the clock to ensure that valid voter registrations submitted before the deadline are processed appropriately, despite the challenges and additional time created by the backlog.
The Pecos County Elections Administration encourages voters to verify their registration status by visiting VoteTexas.gov or by contacting the office directly at (432)336-2115. Voters are encouraged to verify that their current registration information is updated and on file ahead of the October 5 voter registration deadline
